Sometimes weather alters the route to the airport, construction can cause closures of certain City of Des Moines streets, or ramp closures can effect the Freeway (I-235). From the North

Follow I-35 southbound and continue southward on I-235 West(Des Moines freeway system). Exit at Martin Luther King Parkway. Proceed south until it intersects with Fleur Drive (approximately 1.5miles). The Parkway will turn east toward downtown, so continue south on Fleur Drive another 3-miles to the airport. The entrance to the airport will be on your right.

Follow I-35 northbound to Iowa 5, (DSM International Airport).  Take Hwy.-5,  7 miles east to the Fleur Drive exit. Take Fleur Drive north for approximately 2 miles. The entrance to the airport is on the left.

From the East

Take Interstate 80 west to U.S.- 65 South. Proceed south on 65 as it bends west into Hwy.5 (approximately 14 miles), then continue west on Highway 5 for another 4-miles to the Fleur Drive exit (from the time you turn on to U.S.-65 to the Fleur Exit is approx. 18 miles). Proceed north on Fleur Drive approximately 2 miles. The entrance to the airport is on the left.

Follow I-80 eastbound to I-235 East (Des Moines freeway system). Exit at Martin Luther King Parkway. Proceed south on Martin Luther King until it intersects with Fleur Drive (approximately 1.5 miles). Martin Luther King Parkway will turn east toward downtown, so continue south on Fleur Drive another 3-miles. The entrance to the airport is on the right.

Or if you'd prefer, you can take the highway system which would entail coming from I-80 East and turning south on I-35 South towards Kansas City. Take the Des Moines International Airport Exit or Hwy. 5 East and exit at Fleur Drive (approx. 7 miles from I-35S). Head north on Fleur Drive approximately 2 miles and the DSM International Airport will be on your left at the intersection of Fleur and Army Post Road.
